Colic Questionnaire

To help you choose homeopathic remedies to relieve Baby’s colic symptoms more easily, complete this simple, effective questionnaire. Score each question on a scale of one to three, and add up the score for each section, then use the interpretation key to choose a remedy suitable for your baby.

•Give one point if not at all applicable to your baby, or applicable only in a slight degree or very seldom.

•Give two points if this symptom is present about half the time Baby is uncomfortable or only to a moderate degree.

•Give three points if this symptom is strongly present in your baby.


A. ANGRY, INTENSE COLIC
•Does your baby seem frustrated and scrunch his face up into a frown?•Does your baby’s face turn a deep red and does he ball his fists tightly, seemingly in anger?•Does your baby cry loudly and purposefully?•Does your baby burp a lot and pass wind frequently?•Does your baby burp up milk after feeds?•Does your baby have episodes of colic, remaining fine between attacks?•Does it seem as if your baby has severeInterpretation of responsesA score of 1–7: This baby needs no remedies, simply use the tips in the previous sections.A score of 8–14: This baby has a touch of ‘angry intense’ colic. Give 1 tablet ColicCare 3 times a day, crushed to a powder.A score of 15–21: This baby definitely has ‘angry intense’ colic. Give 1 ColicCare tablet before each feed, diluted in 5 ml cooled, boiled water. If this does not offer sufficient relief, give one Nat phos tissue salt tablet, crushed and mixed with a little cooled, boiled water, 3 times daily, in addition to the ColicCare.
B. FRETFUL, CRY-BABY COLIC
•Does your baby have a peevish, fretful temperament and whine a lot?•Does your baby seem to be impatient and irritable when experiencing this crying?•Does your baby have quite red cheeks, with one cheek redder than the other?•Does your baby have these crying attacks for a long time and at any time of day or night?•Are your baby’s stools on the loose side, with a tendency to burn the bottom?•Does your baby seem to be in incessantInterpretation of responsesA score of 1–7: This baby needs no remedies, simply use the tips in the previous sections.A score of 8–14: This baby has a touch of ‘fretful, cry-baby’ colic. Crush and give 1 Chamomilla tablet 3 times a day.A score of 15–21: This baby definitely has ‘fretful, cry-baby’ colic. Give 1 Chamomilla tablet before each feed. If this does not offer sufficient relief, or if baby tends to have loose stools, give ColicCare 3 times a day, diluted in 5 ml cooled, boiled water, in addition to Chamomilla tablets.
C. SPASMODIC COLIC
•Does your baby jerk while asleep and experience twitches during the day?•Does your baby suffer from hiccups regularly?•Do the muscles of your baby’s tummy feel rigid during a crying attack?•Does your baby’s crying have a predictable pattern, either after each feed or at the same time of day?•Does your baby pass stools explosively, being audible at quite a distance?•Does your baby vomit forcefully, especially after feeds?•Does your baby seem to experience cramp-like pain during an attack?Interpretation of responsesA score of 1–7: This baby needs no remedies, simply use tips in previous sections.A score of 8–14: This baby has a touch of spasmodic colic’. Give 1 Mag phos tablet 3 times a day, crushed to a powder.A score of 15–21: This baby definitely has ‘spasmodic’ colic. Give 1 Mag phos tablet before each feed. If this does not offer sufficient relief, give one ColicCare tablet, crushed and mixed with a little cooled, boiled water, 3 times a day, in addition to Mag phos.
