ОглавлениеThe High-Risk Group
While I was writing this booklet at the beginning of the Covid-19 lock-down in the spring of 2020, I had two special experiences how God can guide us with His eyes and show us the way in very practical terms.
When Geri and I celebrated communion one morning after breakfast and he handed me the cup with the blood of Jesus, I had a vision. In my spirit I saw an old woman, who was part of the risk group, sitting on a chair. Then an angel approached her and handed her a staff with the command to reign in prayer with it. The angel also handed out staffs to other people. These "risk people" then began proclaiming truths and promises of God. They began in faith to call "into being things that were not" (see Romans 4:17; NIV). For example, that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea, for this is the will of God for this world!
While these "risk people"—the weak, the sick, and those over 65—were praying, I saw how they themselves became stronger. Some got up from their chairs, others were able to move better, and still others were freed from grief and resignation. Then in my spirit I heard a voice say, "I will make the high-risk group of this pandemic a high-risk group for the enemy. I will strengthen them, keep them, and sharpen the weapons of their prayers!"
Closing Ranks in the Spirit
I am certain: The body of Christ will not be the same after these months. On the one hand, mountains of impossibilities have piled up, but on the other hand, enormous possibilities have opened up. We will close ranks and through deeper commitment to the Holy God, we will find new dimensions of fellowship on a small and large scale. All this will far exceed our wildest dreams.
If we succeed, as the fruit of this unexpected time of upheaval, so to speak, in living and acting from a newly given divine peace, the Holy Spirit will respond to our devotion, commitment, and obedience. As the perfect bride's escort, He will open our eyes for the beauty of the global Bride Church, running towards the Lord and bringing in the last, great harvest.
Those who have invested in deepening their relationship with God in the Baca Valley, the valley of tears, as it says in Psalm 84, those who have dug deep for fresh water in the drought of isolation, loneliness, and financial hardship, will not have done so in vain. Filled with fresh oil and strengthened authority, we will go from glory to glory and be led by the Holy Spirit into undiscovered dimensions, from where we will see the Lord Jesus. From this place of immunity we will be able to implement God's plans for this world with humility and purified authenticity.
Remaining at the Table of Grace
I am especially moved by the fact that my eyes were opened while we were "breaking bread." The Lord must have a preference for sitting at the table of fellowship, eating and drinking with us. The same happened to the disciples when their eyes "were opened" and they recognized the risen Lord when He lit a coal fire and prepared fish for them by the Sea of Galilee. In the same way, the eyes of the disciples on the road to Emmaus were only opened in the evening when they "broke bread"—although their hearts had already been burning on the way—while Jesus explained the whole Scripture to them.
The Lord invites us not to simply leave it at a reservation for a "table for two." We should not miss the meal because we are "going about our work," but in our spirit we should remain at the table of grace. The table is always set, even in the face of our enemies. The table symbolizes a place of communion and fellowship where our bond to Him will be strengthened, our covenant will be renewed, and our worship will grow in secret.
To see Jesus eye to eye means that we do not lose sight of Him because we are simply too busy with our own things. King David said, "I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken" (Psalm 16:8; NIV).
