Guardians of the Light
ОглавлениеShayne woke up with a jolt that eventful morning on that warm day in July. She strained her ears to listen to any unusual noise, but all was quiet. Even though the house was still in its usual state of reverie from her slumbering family, instinct told her that something was very wrong. She couldn’t seem to shake that unsettling feeling of dread that a mother gets when one of her children is in trouble.
Shayne looked at the alarm clock by her bedside – it was shortly after three o’clock in the morning.
She suddenly felt nauseous and decided to get up and stroll around outside in her yard to get some fresh air hoping this would alleviate the sick feeling that kept welling up inside her.
Once outside, she breathed in the effects of the night’s essence and looked around under the moonlight. All appeared to be safe and secure.
Not convinced that everything was as it should be, she lingered outdoors for a little while longer repeatedly scanning the perimeters of her home.
It was just before four o’clock in the morning when she made the decision to return inside the house to try to and catch up on some more sleep before the day began. As she entered the back door the sound of the phone ringing caught her attention. Instinct told her that it would not be good news.
She was right!
A woman had passed by an accident in the wee morning hours and thought that she recognized a damaged vehicle along the side of the road as that belonging to her neighbor’s eldest son.
The woman, very concerned about the welfare of her neighbor’s offspring, called Shayne to confirm her suspicions. At that moment the bottom fell out of Shayne’s world and immediately after her neighbor had given her directions to the crash site, Shayne took off to find out if her son had been involved.
What she saw when she got there made her reel in shock!
The impact of the crash had been so bad that the box of the truck had separated from the rest of it and had been lodged in the bush at the side of the road. Loose coins from a dish on the console had been tossed about with such force that they had become embedded in the roof of the cab.
The vehicle did belong to her son, but there were no signs of him anywhere.
Someone at the crash site told Shayne that the owner of the automobile had been taken to the hospital by ambulance.
She left immediately for the facility.
On the quick trip to the emergency room, Shayne prayed for her male offspring with the intensity that she had never done before. “Please let him be okay.” She pleaded to God for help.
Her Creator did hear her pleas as thankfully, the only injuries her eldest son sustained from the wreck were a concussion and a few bruises. The police report and all those who had witnessed the scene concluded that it was a true miracle that he even survived such a horrific accident.
To Daniel, it was indeed a miracle, especially when he told the story later about the events as they had unfolded earlier that morning. He described that on that particular long weekend the weather proved to be favorable so he and his friends decided to set up at a local campground to celebrate Canada’s one hundred and fifty birthday.
They all enjoyed taking part in the day’s festivities and when dusk started to set in, they finished off the grand celebration by lighting a bonfire and prepared for the fireworks that would soon be seen lighting the skies.
It was later that evening due to the after-effects of the fresh air and the day’s activities, that Daniel became a little weary and retired to one of the tents to get some rest.
Shortly after three in the morning Daniel woke up and made the decision that while everyone was still asleep, this was a good time to vacate the premises.
Daniel was anxious to get home to his beloved pet canine, Hank, who had been alone most of the previous day.
As the young man started his vehicle he did something that was totally out of the norm for him and that was to fasten his seatbelt.
Following this safety procedure was something that Daniel was not in the habit of doing but, at the exact moment he seated himself inside the truck, he thought he heard the voice of his mother nagging him as she always did to take this necessary precaution before driving. He chuckled to himself at this because the tone of his mother’s voice sounded so clear that she seemed to be physically present looking over his shoulder to make sure he was following the rules of the road.
That night he was glad that he had paid attention to his mother’s telepathic promptings as this maneuver saved his life.
Daniel doesn’t remember losing control of his automobile. He felt the wheels of his truck hit the soft shoulder of the road and then the back end of the four-wheeler spun out of control, launched through the air and rolled over twice before hitting the culvert nearly missing a tree by inches. This is when Daniel lost consciousness.
When he came to he could see someone sitting beside him. He vaguely remembers the vision of a person and although it was hazy, it appeared to be his Grandpa Moore who had passed away a few years ago.
Even though the sight of his deceased family member seemed hard to believe, he felt a sense of peace surround him, especially when he heard the voice of his papa intuitively assure him that he was going to be okay but he needed to immediately get out of the truck and seek assistance.
Daniel doesn’t remember removing himself from the cab and even wondered later how he managed to extract his body out of the mangled mess.
He must have passed out again after seeing the male apparition because the next thing he recalls was waking up in the grass at the side of the road.
Once he regained some composure, the injured lad carefully got up from the ground and in a dazed state began to walk in the direction of the nearest house for help.
During this trek he knew he was not alone as he felt his papa walking beside him and his mere presence comforted Daniel giving him enough strength to get to the nearest home where the owners immediately called for an ambulance.
At the hospital, Shayne finally breathed a sigh of relief when the doctors told her the only injuries her son sustained were non-life-threatening.
It was during her visitation with him, she told her boy that she had gone in search of him then described in horror what she had witnessed. “I don’t how you ever survived. Tell me what happened.” She asked him.
Daniel went on to explain the events that had led up to the collision earlier that morning and then finished the story by telling her that when he awakened briefly after the crash someone was sitting beside him.
“What do you mean someone was with you? I thought you were alone.” His mom asked him sounding a little perplexed.
“I was Mom. I did not have a passenger in the car with me - but I tell you when I woke up I was not alone. There was someone sitting right there beside me and I smelled smoke so I believe it to have been Grandpa Max.”
After giving it some thought, his mother had to agree with her son about who his Savior had been that day because Grandpa Max Moore had owned a livestock farm and cured his own meats hence, his clothes carried the slight odor of smoke on them.
It was much to his mother’s relief, that Daniel was released from the hospital two days after his arrival into the emergency room. With heavy heart Daniel drummed up the courage to ask his mom if she would take him to the auto impound where his truck had been towed so he could assess the damage.
When Daniel saw the demolished pile of debris, this twenty three year old man started to cry. It was quite evident to him that the only way he could have possibly been freed from the wreck was through the help of an Angel and he knew exactly who that Spirit had been.
After the disaster Daniel went through a personality change. Prior to his life-altering incident he had been arrogant, a little rebellious and didn’t take life very seriously and now, during this point in time, he owned up to his mistakes calmly when his father chastised him, offered help to his mother with the chores whenever he came for a visit and respected the opinion of others including those of his younger brother. Daniel told his mother that he was getting ‘his act together.’
Even though this trauma had been an awakening for Daniel, this was not the only marvel he had witnessed, although, during that particular time in his life it was his father who had been the lucky participant of a miraculous encounter from Heaven.
During Daniel’s earlier years, his father had taken him and his younger brother into the bush to cut down some trees. Daniel’s father, John, was a logger by profession and he wanted to show his sons the ‘tricks of the trade.’ The boys’ father warned them that every day could prove to be dangerous and they always needed to be thankful for their Angels for watching over them.
At first, the children were skeptical of this statement because they had never heard there father talk about Angels up until that point in time, but then, a seed of doubt was planted in them when the Universe decided it was time to prove their father’s remark about Divine Intervention was right on cue.
It was later that afternoon as the boys stood back watching their dad perform his craft, when a rotting tree suddenly broke free and came crashing down just missing him by inches.
A limb from the dead foil grazed their father’s shoulder during the fall and cut into him like the edge of a knife. The kids stood back with their mouths open in sheer terror after witnessing the near fatal tragedy. To the children during that moment in time, it looked like their dad had just suddenly flown through the air like someone had tossed him like a Frisbee to get him out of the way from the falling sentinel.
John also later confirmed to his wife, Shayne that their sons account of what they had witnessed was true and then added that during the instant of his near fatal demise he had been fully aware that someone was behind him because he literally felt hands forcefully push him out of the way. His sermon to his sons about ‘the Angels watching over them’ was definitely proved that day.
You didn’t have to convince Shayne to ‘believe in the magic of the Heavens’ although this wasn’t always so. During her younger years, the ‘Powers that be’ tried very hard to convince Shayne to behold the wonders that were placed before her but her skepticism got in the way and she just naturally assumed that everything unusual or amazing that happened in her life was just a coincidence. It was through the constant overwhelming display of synchronicities that she finally gave in and allowed her mind’s eye to be opened so she was able to see the Light of the Divine.
Shayne was unaware that the rest of her relations were believers in the Great Beyond until a family gathering about a month prior to Daniel’s accident.
Shayne’s Grandfather Coldham had been an attentive, loving man who worshiped nature. He lived on a farm that was surrounded by the woods and it was here that he frequently entertained the younger members of his ‘Pride’ by taking them on a nature walk among the trees.
The butterflies were also abundant around this patriarch as they seemed to sense his kind energy and flew around him like he was a prized flower.
Unfortunately this wonderful, gentle man has since made his transition into Heaven. His wife followed in his footsteps six months later, passing away from a broken heart due to the loss of her beloved husband.
The death of these two gentle souls took its toll on the family and this was the reason that one of the siblings took over their home after the mourning phase had passed. Keeping the memories of the homestead and its occupants alive were exactly what the family needed to recover from their loss.
A barbeque was planned at the old estate in the summer of 2017, just prior to Canada’s 150th birthday celebration.
Even though other members of the family now owned the house, it seemed empty without the original owners. But I ask you, were they really absent from the fold? All the signs seemed to prove otherwise.
As the day progressed, various members of the family started to notice an abundance of butterflies flying around them and then they all started commenting on the wonderful occurrence, humorously making remarks that the elders of the family, who were now residing in Heaven, were also attending the gala.
It was during a moment when they had all formed a huddle in the backyard that a swarm of the beautiful winged creatures decided to form a coalition taking advantage of the family’s togetherness. The colorful delicate species swooped around them like they were encompassing them in a protective cocoon.
To the family, this was a beautiful display of love that was sent from those who had ‘Crossed Over’ showing their descendants that they were still with them.
It was shortly after the memorable family reunion that Shayne’s faith was tested again. Shayne had just found out that her father was diagnosed with cancer and she immediately fell into a state of depression.
This mood was still prevalent on her drive to work one day just shortly after she had heard the devastating news but she reacted as she always did during troubling times and that was to pray.
This time her call for support was directed towards her father in that he would find the peace and guidance he needed to get him through his ordeal.
Immediately after her plea for assistance, one of the street lamps on the side of the road flashed on and off. Shayne looked at the blinking light hopefully thinking it might be a sign from her Spiritual Helpers showing they had heard her.
She got her confirmation seconds later as no sooner than she passed one road lamp when the next one just a few feet ahead also winked in dual simulation. She smiled and whispered a grateful, “Thank you.” After that the rest of the day went surprisingly well.
Even though she was still feeling anxious, that display of lights had given her some encouragement in knowing that no matter what was about to take place, that with the help of her Spiritual Mentors, she would find the strength to carry on in spite of life’s little hurts.
Shayne’s Heavenly charges once again relayed the message ‘We Are Here’ when she left work later that day.
As it was, during that twilight time, the street lights started their repetition of blinking on and off and continued all along the route home till she pulled into the driveway of her residence.
This was the start of a wonderful relationship with her Guardians of Light and now it happens on a regular basis, especially when she is feeling the pressures of a busy day.
As always Shayne responds to these Angelic communications with a grateful. “Thank you,” just to let them know she accepts and appreciates their acts of love and support.
The only one left in the family now that needed convincing on the magical ways of the Universe was her youngest son, Wyatt, but as fate would have it she needed not to have worried as he was about to have a profound experience of his own.
The incident took place late one afternoon on a trip home from the hospital.
Mother and son were riding silently in the car reflecting on the visit they had just had with Shayne’s ailing dad. “I don’t know if Papa is going to be all right, Mom,” he said to his mother with grave concern. Wyatt had a very close relationship with his grandfather and Shayne knew that even though her son was twenty years old, he was struggling with his emotions.
“Ask your Angels to watch over him,” she said to her male offspring trying to find the words to comfort him even though she was also apprehensive at the condition of her father’s wellbeing.
“Do you really believe that Mom?” He questioned her, sounding as skeptical as she had been during her adolescence.
“Yes, son,” She said trying her best to convince him otherwise. “You can always count on them for some kind of support. They might not always take the hurt away, but they will provide you with a sense of peace,” she explained.
She had just uttered those words of comfort when the street light they were passing flashed on and off like they had done before.
Wyatt looked at his mom in surprise and said, “Did you see that?”
“Yes, Wyatt. I told you it’s the Angels letting us know that they are around. It happens to me on a regular basis,” she told him.
“Come on Mom, it was just a coincidence,” he said to her not yet convinced.
“Nothing is a coincidence,” his mother said to him as another pole lamp they were passing blinked in unison with the other and then another and then yet another.
“Wow!” Wyatt said as he watched the display of flickering lights. He rode the rest of the way home in shocked silence. He could not dismiss the fact that what his mother was trying to tell him was true.
Because of the wonderful phenomenon that her family had witnessed, the members of Shayne’s little ‘nest’ now all believe in the miracles of Heaven and are fully aware they are not alone in dealing with everyday struggles. They also believe that every moment they spend together is a blessing.
