To Nellie Lloyd
Оглавление[Postmark 5 June 1885] [16 Tite Street]
My dear Little Nellie, You will be delighted to hear that Constance got through her confinement all right, suffering hardly any pain. The child—an amazing boy!—was born when she was under chloroform, and on coming to she absolutely declined to believe it was born at all! And was only convinced of the fact by the nurse producing a stalward [sic] boy, who already knows me quite well. She is very happy and peaceful but cannot see anyone for some days. The doctor has posted a bulletin in the hall to that effect.
You must have a little girl and we will make up a match at once. I will let you and Otho, the important uncle and aunt of our son and heir, know how she gets on. I hope you will get through your own confinement as easily as Constance—I am sure you will. It really is very little after all—you must not be nervous. I have sent Otho a telegram and send you a letter (my first!). I know you will be delighted—both of you. Ever affectionately yours
OSCAR
