How to Use This Book
About Past-Life Regression
Past-life regression is a specific method of hypnotherapy in which a person is lead into an altered state of consciousness to remember his or her own past-life or -lives. There are practitioners who are trained exclusively in past-life regression, perhaps in one specific method, while hypnotherapists are trained in other types of trance work such as positive behavioral change in addition to past-life.
You may choose to do this past-life remembrance on your own using the information in this book, or you may need or desire to find a good past-life regressionist/hypnotherapist to guide you. There are many available. When selecting someone, ask about the person’s background and methodology. Also ask about the practitioner’s philosophy and make sure that it is in concert with your own. Then use your own spiritual guidance, your internal knowing, as to whether this person is the best one for you.
It may not be advisable to regress yourself if you want to address particularly difficult issues or suppressed memories. The regressions in this book are not intended to replace professional advice you might need, whether that be medical or psychological. If that is the case, you should check with a professional in that field before you proceed.
About the Regression Scripts
Suggested past-life regression scripts are provided in many of the chapters so that you can continue your exploration of your own past-lives even after finishing this book. The first regression in Chapter 1 will take you to a prior time in which you lived a fulfilling and happy life, and the regression follows a traditional format. This will allow you to become familiar with the process and feel comfortable with it. The regressions in the chapters that follow address specific types of goals. Some of them are adaptations of the happy past-life script, but several are unique to their chapter.
The regressions are designed to help you remember the origin of negative patterns and then aid you in applying spiritual principles to transform them to more positive ones. As a result, the inductions—initial suggestions for relaxation and setting the stage for the actual regression—have been fashioned in a way meant to disengage the conscious mind, which may attempt to analyze and judge what is happening. This allows you to open to your imaginal abilities to form mental images of information about your past-lives provided to you by the subconscious. Although you may receive the information as pictures in your mind, as many do, it may come to you instead through your other senses. Be open to receiving it in whatever way is best for you, whether that be through your inner knowing, hearing, touch, taste, or even smell. Wait to judge what comes to you until the regression is over. Then your conscious mind has the full picture with which to analyze, if it chooses.
The last regression in the book, to retrieve past-life skills and create a future you desire, is not intended to be spiritually therapeutic as are the others. It engages your co-creative abilities to manifest the life of your dreams. This script and the happy past-life script can be adapted to revisit any of your past-lives you choose to explore.
Energy Work
In some of the reports of the regressions, you will read how energy was released, transformed, or sent into the Light, sometimes to be returned to the person after purification. This type of energy work is typically not part of a past-life regression, but it is part of my methodology so I use it for the person’s benefit. Although it is referred to, I have not included ways in which you can incorporate energy work as it is not the focus of this book and would be difficult for you to do on your own without training.
Creating Your Safe Place
Before you try these regressions for yourself, it is important for you to find a quiet place in which to work and create a safe place in your mind. This will provide you with a sanctuary, so to speak, into which you can retreat if you feel the need to remove yourself from a regression experience. Although you are encouraged to view your prior lives as an impartial observer, there may be times when you are reliving the experience. If it feels uncomfortable for any reason, you can visit your safe place or even open your eyes until you are ready to continue.
The safe place you select might be somewhere you have been before that you love and feel comfortable in—a place where you always wanted to be or somewhere that your imaginative mind creates just for you. Wherever that place is, you must feel totally safe and protected there. Be sure to add details to make this a beautiful and comfortable place. Invite the participation of all your senses so that it becomes alive for you.
Higher Self
Your Higher Self is going to be your guide on your journeys through former incarnations. It will also be assisting you for your highest good. Your Higher Self is that part of you that has always been aware of its, and your, connection to the Divine. It knows you on a soul level and sees you as the true, pure being you are. Edgar Cayce told us that it is the aspect of us that is an individuation of God’s energy. It is the voice of God within, so look to it for help and assistance, not only in your regressions, but anytime you have need. If you ask, it will always be there. It may appear to you in a human-type body, an energy body, or as a feeling or scent. Even if you are not able to discern its presence with any of your senses, it is always there. It is part of you.
Recording the Sessions
If you want to experience any of these regressions yourself, you can read the script, make any adjustments you desire (including changing the word “you” to “I”), set the intention, enter into a meditative state, and lead yourself through it. You might find that playing soothing or spiritual music may be helpful for you to reach the state of consciousness necessary to access the past.
You may, however, decide to record it for yourself and play it while you go back in time. There are many different types of technologies you can use. Among these are tape recorders, digital recorders, and other types of recorders you can use. You can even record it and play it back on your computer. Since digital recorders are very sensitive, you might want to add an inexpensive software editing program so that you can take out the hissing and scratching noises. One word of warning: do not listen to your recording while you are driving. You might just find yourself transported from the highway to a pasture where you are herding cows!
