Chapter 1 A Guidebook for Life
ОглавлениеImagine, if you will, a world in which everyone believed in reincarnation. Linger with this thought. Explore its possibilities—a world where race, ethnicity, differences of any kind would be irrelevant because we have been or could be in the future: yellow, white, black, red, brown, gay, straight, female, or male. The opportunities for the unique expression of our soul’s experience in a physical body are seemingly boundless.
Remembering past-lives is a slice of the topic of reincarnation, a slice of the potential. In the life readings Edgar Cayce gave, he told people of some of their past-lives as a guidebook for this life. They were advised as to whether they had gained or lost in their soul development in those lives and what their weaknesses and their strengths were so that they might use this information for their benefit on their journey home to Source.
Visiting a past-life is like opening a portal in time and space. As P.M.H. Atwater, a near-death researcher, wrote, “A human being not in proper balance physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually will subconsciously set up a vibrational ‘signal’ which will attract to him or her the very diseases, accidents, or incidents necessary for that individual’s redirection, rebirth, or death.”1 Through a past-life regression the original cause of a particular recurring pattern or problem, the source of this “signal,” is suddenly viewed or relived in context. What we may be experiencing currently as a constant pain in the neck may have resulted from a stab wound by a former enemy; eye deterioration may happen as an awakening of our pattern of having previously refused to see a wrong, or the quivering of our hands may come from a life in which we were disdainful or fearful of getting our hands dirty and manipulated others to do it for us. What value does this knowledge have? Sometimes just revisiting the cause unleashes the energy that has been locked in this former time and change occurs. In other cases spiritual therapy must also happen. Perhaps forgiveness of all those involved, including ourselves, is required. Our very way of being and doing in the world may need to be changed so that we are more expansive and loving, more mindful of the interconnectedness of all beings. Whatever it is that we need do, spiritual assistance is always available if we ask for it.
Are these memories of having lived in former times real? This is an answer you must come to on your own. My purpose is not to try to convince you of the validity of either reincarnation or information acquired through past-life regression or mindwalking journeying. The goal here is to provide you with a catalyst for change by first remembering who you truly are—a spiritual being expressing itself through adventures in and out of matter—and then by affording you the opportunity to make course corrections necessary in your evolutionary process. I would, however, add this to the discussion of the question of whether or not reincarnation is real: in regressing a few of my clients it was quite clear to them and to me that the details of prior incarnations contained information they did not have prior knowledge of. Some even began speaking in foreign languages that they did not know. For others, it seemed as if the subconscious had used this venue to express itself in a way that it could be heard through symbols rather than through actual past-life memories, similar to the messages in dreams. As a hypnotherapist and past-life regressionist it is not my place to judge. What is relevant is the value that can come from this type of exploration. My focus, and the focus of this book, is to provide a vehicle to assist you in creating your future in a way that aids you not only on your soul’s journey but also in adding vibrationally to the shift to higher consciousness on this planet.
