Abstract

The main objective of this book is to identify the factors that promote and facilitate the development of academic programs based on competencies, as well as those that hinder or hinder the educational process. In this sense, the research presented here provides valuable information to help universities to make decisions to generate unity in academic programs so that they can achieve high-quality standards. In this way, the investigative reflection leads to investigate, mainly, the following points: the conceptualization and appropriation of the educational model and its implementation in the classroom; the coherence between pedagogy and didactic strategies; the strategies developed by the teacher for the evaluation of competences, the student’s appreciation of the implementation of the educational model and its appropriation in academic activities; and the teacher’s appreciation of the importance of the adoption and implementation of competences in their formative work. This first volume of the collection is carried out by three investigations: “Adopt the Critical Educational Model with a Competency Approach: understanding the curricular transformation from the perspective of general didactics”, “How is teaching practice constructed in a critical training model by competencies? ” and “Educating for working life: responding to the professional skills demanded by the business sector”. These works describe the components that are part of the Critical Educational Model with a Competency Approach and function as a preamble to the research that will be developed in volumes 2 and 3.
