It is said that the best way to kill creativity and self-esteem in a small child is to tell it to “be quiet” to “shut up”! Yet there are many instances, too many to describe here, that an apparent difficult start to life is the ‘driver’ to the child creating their own non- external ‘inner’ dialogue; an ‘out-of-body’ connection to that ‘other world’ of mystery and guidance. I believe that this true ‘gift of spirit’ is amply demonstrated in Richard’s case. He survived an abusive father and dysfunctional early family life; to come out on the other side as a noted and respected author and writer, a passionate patron and collector of the arts and one of life’s great story tellers – a forgotten art!

In my nine years I have known Richard, I have been privileged to listen ‘first hand’ to many of his homilies and ‘coincidences’ that have strongly influenced his life’s journey. I know therefore from personal experience his stories carry great authenticity, wisdom and a depth of knowing, as evidenced in this inspirational book. He writes with honesty and easy simplicity as one who has listened to and experienced the ‘cause and effect’; the ‘karma’ of life.
