Adopting a Transformative Approach: Team Activity

Оглавление

As you near the end of this first section and before you proceed into the remainder of the book, it's time to gather with your team, review your reflections together, and begin/continue to establish your habit of learning together.

Team Discussion 1

Review the data about inequities described in the Introduction and share your reaction. Discuss with your team the ways in which it mirrors your school/district/organization, what other data matter, and the relevance of the data for your system and your leadership.

Team Discussion 2

Review how inequity is historical, structural, institutionalized, and individual/ interpersonal. Too often one gets stuck only seeing inequity as individual/interpersonal. Discuss with your team: What habits exist in your school/district/organization that suggest inequity is an individual/interpersonal issue?

Discuss where you see each of the following in your school/district/community:

 Historical inequity

 Structural inequity

 Institutionalized inequity

 Individual/interpersonal inequity

Team Discussion 3

Share with your team which of the stories from this chapter resonated most with you, why, and what new stories and strategies you will adopt in order to "do better."

Team Discussion 4

What is new learning for you? What new insights do you have that will affect your leadership?
