Looking at your thyroid function
ОглавлениеWomen who have an underactive or overactive thyroid may have trouble getting pregnant. Thyroid abnormalities can cause anovulation (no egg is released), irregular menstrual cycles, or short menstrual cycles. (See Chapter 2 for more about menstrual dysfunction.)
Hypothyroid, or low thyroid levels, can raise your prolactin level (prolactin is a hormone that helps control milk production in breastfeeding women). High prolactin levels can prevent ovulation; prolactin levels can be diagnosed with a blood test.
