PREGNANCY AND LACTATION GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS: PREGNANCY POINTERS

Оглавление

If you are planning to become pregnant and have irregular or absent periods, you may have to reduce your training intensity and/or increase your body fat a little. This will improve your chances of conception and help ensure an optimal birth weight for your baby. Supplementation with folate will help prevent neural-tube defects. Poor weight gain during pregnancy also increases the risk of a low birth weight baby. A low body fat percentage is associated with lower sex hormones.

The factors that determine your training and nutrition programme in pregnancy are your pre-pregnancy fitness, type of sport, training demands, comfort, adequate weight gain, morning sickness, and the presence of other risk factors.
