Clear varnish

Оглавление

As Danish oil or similar substances change the color of the wood slightly, you may find you lose some of the contrast a pale wood provides. If you wish to keep the contrast in your design, it is possible to use a clear varnish to protect the wood without affecting the shade or tone. Most craft suppliers or art shops sell clear water-based varnishes that are ideal for protecting the wood, and are usually available in either satin, matte, or gloss finishes to suit your individual preference. These varnishes also protect the wood from the natural oils of our hands, so consider using these if you are creating an item that will be well-handled.
