Foreword

Оглавление

Content from the original Block Genius is here with all 201 pieced blocks with No Math charts. I've added a new finished size of 4½" to 6, 9, and 12-inch finished blocks. Quilters who like to make mini quilts, or want to make sampler quilts like Dear Jane or Civil War replicas, have 201 blocks to choose from with the math done for those beautiful, little blocks.

I've added 100 blocks in 3 new grid sizes, 5 x 5, 7 x 7 and 8 x 8, each with 3 finished block sizes, and no math charts. While not as versatile as the sizes in the first book, the new block sizes double and triple, giving you a whole new range of small to large blocks. Quilts can be just as dramatic using 14", 15", or 16" finished sizes. Or make a sampler quilt using multiple sizes of blocks.

Be sure to read through the front of the book before making your blocks, especially if you are a beginner or you are new to piecing. The information there is extensive, instructions are easy to follow, and you may refer to techniques in other projects as you start piecing your own blocks.

I've designed over fifty blocks for the new sizes. It was my goal after writing the first book to design my own, and I'm happy to share them with you. You should try it! Choose a traditional block and take away or move pieces around. It will allow you to see how a block can evolve into a design of your own. Draw a grid on graph paper, get out your colored pencils and create a block with your favorite colors. Use the math charts and apply the measurements to your design. It's all here; no need for a calculator!

Quilt Block Genius includes 300 blocks in over 1000 sizes with the math done for you. That's a lot of information and inspiration! Choose a block, choose your favorite colors, and choose a size. The possibilities are endless.
