Chapter 6
ОглавлениеI love Germany "the nation of poets and philosophers" to quote Wolfgang Menzel. But besides the people it is beautiful. The cities mixing very old structures with ultra modern. The beautiful slanted roofs for the snow to fall and not collect. The majestic mountains and crystal clear streams. Not so much the rivers. The Rhine is quite disgusting with the pollution of man. But even the Rhine retains its beauty in its own way. I have always loved listening to the sounds and bathing in the views, of the amazing composers and painters of Germany both present and past. It is truly enchanting.
I went in the early hours of their morning around 2am. They are on a different time zone to where I live, so I adjusted my visit accordingly. I was hoping that all the scientists were gone by then. As I'm sure you realize, you never know with the academics whether in this world or any. Raziel never followed the light schedules. I think they just work when their mind allows them to. No matter what anyone else is doing.
I was lucky that it was empty, of course there was still guards patrolling the grounds and the cameras. But both of these are not a concern to me when I am cloaked.
I scanned the buildings to see if there was any energy signatures’ coming from the cloak. But if they had it stored facing down there wouldn't be. My next thought was to scan for an iron safe. This is the best way to store anything of the fae, as they can't touch iron. Therefore they couldn't steal it back. I had a feeling the humans had worked that out.
Jackpot! I found an iron safe in a central building. I passed through the walls with ease and found the iron safe in the center of a dull-lit room. Iron does not have any effect on my kind; so passing through it was not difficult. I did not remove the cloak. I just carefully studied it. It's texture, its colors and size. It was beautiful different shades of purple with gold and silver thread intricately woven into the threads. Fae are the most amazing artists with such creative and intricate designs.
Once I had the exact dimensions and colorations. I pulled back and flitted to the closest material store, which luckily was right next to a jeweler. There I created the closest I could to an exact replica. We cannot manifest something from nothing so having the materials was less power to use than pulling all the elements from around me would have been and I didn't want any of my energy signature to remain in the area. It took around a millisecond to form. That did surprise me; my powers are certainly stronger than they have ever been.
Of course it wasn't made with fae magic so it certainly wouldn't cause any invisibility but if you just glanced it. Hopefully you wouldn’t notice any difference. I placed a spell upon it that if touched it would emit a rather large electrical shock.
A spell Loki had taught me. One he loved to torture my siblings with. I weakened it a little. Hopefully it shouldn't cause death to a human but it should stop the scientists getting too close to it until I can swap the original back.
I returned to the institute and made the swap without incident. I did spend a little time looking through their research papers. Their nanotech has come a long way. It is possible they will be able to make one that to humans and possibly even my own kind could make it difficult to see a human. Of course the elves wouldn't be fooled. But all in all not bad work for humans. From the research I believe they wouldn't need to take the original out again but one never knows. One of these scientists may just want to see it again. I hope I weakened the spell enough not to hurt them.
I wrapped the cloak around myself and left the institute. It was around 2:30 am in Germany and since I was so close I couldn't resist dropping in to one of my most favorite places on earth: The Black Forrest. I have always loved sitting at the Triberg falls. The Black Forrest is just such a tranquil place and the music of the falls and the trees is breathtaking. Water has always soothed me even in my human life. Just being near it seems to wash over my whole being whether it is spiritual or physical it creates a pause of all anxiety.
I walked to the Klein Falls it is the largest waterfall in Europe and stood on the rocks near Laufen Castle. Standing high above the waterfalls I could feel and hear the roar and vibrations of the watercourse through my ethereal body. Water of this magnitude creates such a strong emotional reaction even to the likes of my kind. It is a spot where we all visit frequently. But I knew I was safe from prying eyes as I was still wearing the Elven cloak. I sat and soaked in the grandeur of the moment.
It was several hours before I flitted back to my human self. But my connection had not been broken so I knew all was fine.
To cross into the undying lands of Valinor in my true form is not difficult. In my years I have spoken the words of entry probably over a trillion times. I used to love training with the elves. They are amazingly skilled fighters even without magic. There are not many enemies they couldn't take down.
But it was their craftsmanship that fascinated me the most. I could watch their blacksmiths create swords for hours. There is nothing more beautiful than an Elven sword. Arwen gave me one; it must be a millennium ago. I took it back to Nibiru and keep it in a jeweled case in my armory. I never wanted to use it because of its beauty. But it is a formidable weapon, so sharp it can cut through diamonds. They use special metals from the fae realm and work the metal at temperatures that far exceed anything humans could work with. Their craftsmen encrust jewels into intricate patterns through the handles and quotes that appear under certain conditions glowing through the sword. Each one is truly a work of art.
Valinor is not just home to the elves; the wizards of the fae also live there when they are not on a quest that is. They seem to be always old and extremely intelligent. They love philosophy and always talk in riddles. It may not even sound like a riddle it could be a poem or a story. But it will never be direct. Sometimes it would take even our kind weeks to decipher the meaning. Raziel loved having long conversations with them. He would then spend weeks writing down and deciphering each conversation. We called Raziel our wizard but he said after spending time with them he could barely be classed as an apprentice in comparison to their knowledge.
Now that I have the cloak I have to make the trip to Valinor. I am extremely nervous about cutting my ties from my human self. But if I don’t someone could follow the silver cord and I would be found.
After much thought and considerable hours of worrying, I have decided to encapsulate some of my entity in my human self. Hopefully when I sever the ties to enter Valinor that will be enough to bring me back to myself. I have also placed wards on myself, and my family that are living with me. This would definitely deter if not stop any attack if someone happened to work out who I was. I have no reason to believe anyone has but it does concern me.
I am going to go in the night of this life, as at least my human self should be safe asleep. I do not know what the light schedules of Valinor are now as they change with their seasons and to be honest I never really took notice. Time is something you as humans live by; we don't really concern ourselves with this. We can see quite well in the dark and if we are inclined we can light our path easily enough. Of course this time I won't be able to do that as I am trying not to be seen.
I flitted to the entry tree that Arwen had shown me years ago. It is a very old gate that came out in the dark forest of Valinor. He told me it was not known by many and rarely used at the time. I hope that is still the case.
I broke the tie with my human self-anchoring it in a cave that Arwen and I had explored not too far from the tree. Just in case there is trouble. I am hoping there isn't. After all I have the cloak and have prepared as much as possible.
I entered the forest through the tree there was spider webs and dust everywhere, so that was a good sign that no one had been there recently. It was twilight but still light enough to see where I was going. Which was another good thing. I got to the edge of the forest. From there I could see the mountain I needed to ascend to, to get to the cave.
I could also see the capital of Valinor. It truly is a beautiful city with a cascading waterfall falling from the castle surrounded by the city. Stunning!
But this view was not what made me catch my breath. It was the view of legions of elves in battle training format in the fields directly in front of me. This was the largest formation of elf legions I had ever seen. Their armor and swords were glistening even in the twilight and the silver manes of their horses twinkled against the darkness.
I took a long slow deep breath to center my mind and pulled the cloak a little tighter around myself. I travelled for as far as I could along the forest edge. Leaving only a short 100 meters or so to cross in the open to the edge of the mountain. I crossed this as quickly as possible making sure the cloak did not flap or open in anyway.
The cliff to the cave cannot be climbed so I had to elevate myself using my power. I scanned the legions they were facing the capital away from me but I knew there generals would not be. I had to risk it. I pulled on my power and flew to the cave in what felt like a millisecond. My powers truly had grown, without a second thought I entered the cave and located my book. I slipped it carefully into my inside jacket pocket.
But as I went to leave the mouth of the cave I saw a small legion coming directly toward the mountain. They were in full search formation. I had seen it before.
They had obviously seen me somehow but they weren't sure what I was...they were on full alert. I had to throw them off somehow.
I created a powerball in a flowing shape and sent it along the edge of the forest from the canyon to the right of me. They all turned to follow the power. Then I realized I had sent it to the tree exit. Stupid mistake. I would have to use a different gateway to return to the human world.
I made my own way to the start of the river I knew there was a gateway behind the falls there. I just hoped it was clear of traffic. It was darker now so I had that advantage. The other legions seemed to be heading in for the nightly feast.
I made it to the gateway and only had to pass two elves on the way. I knew them both which meant I could tell they had not felt me pass. Unfortunately this exit took me to St Nextan's Glen, near Cornwall in England. It is such a beautiful place full of fae energy. People who visit always come away saying how wonderful the energy of the place is. It's that strong that they don't mention the beauty of the falls and caves except as an afterthought. The fae are known to frequent this area. I knew I would have to be careful to leave no trail when I flitted back to Llangernyw in Wales, which is where the first tree entry was I had to collect the connection to my human self. But I didn't know if the elf legion would still be there.
The gate was closing as I arrived. I scanned to make sure all had gone and no scout was left behind. There was no one, which was strange in itself. They didn't know what the energy was and are always curious. So why weren't they investigating.
Then I looked up and realized the tree had grown to an enormous height. The leaves had silver veins running through them. It was now as tall as the Empire State Building and twice as wide.
I realized the tree had sucked up the energy ball I had created. My power is way beyond anything I imagined. All gates are fed on energy. It had just eaten it all and consequently grown into a now very magical looking giant tree. This could be why the legion left so quickly such a display of power would concern them and though they are powerful they were only one fairly small legion.
I had to fix this otherwise it would be world headlines tomorrow. Unfortunately the magic had mixed with the fae tree and the only way I would be able to drain my energy out of it would be to kill it and pull it out of it. I hate killing anything so this was hard for me. I went to get my connection to my human self. Hoping it had not been found by the legion.
Thankfully it was not found by the legion. They must have been in a hurry to leave. Once I reconnected with my human entity I felt better; my human self was still sleeping that was a relief at least.
I went back to the tree and killed it draining my energy and the fae energy back into myself. The gateway would be broken and the elves would have another thing for them to worry about. On top of whatever they were preparing for, but I couldn't help that now.
I said a fae blessing over the tree and gave it back to the earth. Then returned safely back to my sleeping body.
I will return the cloak tomorrow night before I decide to call on Queen Una. Tonight I just rolled it up and put it under my bed...such a human thing to do.
I lay here thinking about the events of the night. It does concern me that they detected me even wearing the Elven cloak and using my own cloaking. I was being so careful with the Elven cloak wrapped so tightly around me. So what did they see? They didn't recognize it as me or they wouldn't have been searching. They would have just telepathically connected to me. I did not even feel them try. So Legolas who was there didn't even recognize whatever they saw as me. That is strange. He is someone I would class as a close friend. We have spent a great deal of time together. I thought I saw Arwen as well standing observing from the main tower and he definitely should have recognized my energy. Especially when I created the energy shape to cross the field and out of their land. So therefore that cannot be what they were seeing. So what were they seeing and why didn't he recognize my energy in the shape? Had my energy changed its signature that much? I know our energies change with different circumstances but that much that those closest to me couldn't recognize it? The tree seems to be another mystery my power has never turned anything to silver and the veins of its leaves definitely had pure liquid silver running through them. The trunk and branches also seemed to have silver embedded in the bark. It is definitely a puzzle.
One thing for sure is, I'm going to have to be more careful with my power as it is obviously way beyond anything I have ever had before. That poor tree could attest to that. But for now it's time to sleep.
