Bring ladybugs and dragonflies to the table on this fun placemat. Throw a garden party and make enough for all your guests!
MATERIALS
•12" x 18" (30.5 x 45.5cm) foam sheet in green
•9" x 12" (23 x 30.5cm) foam sheets in white, black, and red
•Crystal glitter paint
•Green acrylic paint
•Fine-tipped paintbrush
•3½" (9cm) of 18-gauge copper wire
•Wire cutters or old scissors
•Needle-nosed pliers
1.Cut the following foam shapes using the patterns: six dragonflies from white; one ladybug body from red; and six thoraxes, one ladybug head, three ladybug spots, and one ladybug stripe from black.
2.Paint the dragonfly wings with glitter paint and dot two green eyes onto the thoraxes. Glue the thoraxes on top of the wings.
3.Use needle-nosed pliers to bend the copper wire into a U shape. Poke one end of the wire into the top of the ladybug head and back up through so that the two ends stick up as antennae. Bend the ends into circles.
4.Glue the ladybug head, stripe, and dots to the ladybug body. Glue the entire ladybug in the center of the placemat. Glue three dragonflies on each side of the ladybug.
