ОглавлениеTROPICAL WINDSOCK
Create a tropical windsock to enjoy yourself or give as a gift. It’s a great reminder of how much fun it is to be at the ocean!
MATERIALS
•12" x 18" (30.5 x 45.5cm) foam sheets in blue, chartreuse green, lavender, and yellow
•9" x 12" (23 x 30.5cm) foam sheets in dark green, medium green, tan, turquoise, light pink, dark pink, white, orange, and light orange
•Brown and green dimensional paint
•Blue, crystal, and green glitter paint
•Black acrylic paint
•Fine-tipped paintbrush
•Assorted small seashells
•3 yards (3m) of ¼" (0.5cm) chartreuse green satin ribbon
• ¼" (0.5cm) hole punch
1.Cut the following foam shapes using the patterns: one fins D and one seaweed from dark green; one seaweed from medium green; one sand from tan; one fins C from turquoise; one fish B from light pink; one fins B from dark pink; one each fish eyes A, B, C, and D from white; one fish A from orange; one fins A from light orange; one fish D and one seaweed from chartreuse green; and one fish C from yellow.
2.Cut the following danglers that are 1¼" x 12" (3 x 30.5cm): three from chartreuse green, three from lavender, and three from yellow. From the blue foam, cut one piece that is 7" x 18" (18 x 45.5cm) and four pieces that are ½" x 1½" (1.5 x 4cm).
3.Paint all the details on all the fish parts black. Add details to all the seaweed, using green between adjacent seaweed and green glitter for seaweed veins. Also add brown lines to the sand. Glue the sand and seaweed onto the large blue foam base. Glue seashells onto the sand.
4.Glue all the fins, eyes, and tails to the various fish, then glue the fish to the blue base. Add bubbles of blue paint and crystal glitter dots.
5.Glue danglers evenly around the bottom of the blue base. Then roll the blue base into a tube with a slight overlap and glue in place to create the windsock shape.
6.Use a hole punch to punch four holes spaced evenly around the top rim of the windsock, about ⅜" (1cm) down from the edge. Glue the small blue strips over the holes on the inside, then re-punch the same holes. Cut the ribbon into four equal lengths. Loop a ribbon through each hole. Bring all the loose ends together and tie, leaving 4" (10cm) of ribbon hanging loose. Tie two of the loose ribbons together to create a loop for hanging.
