Estaba anocheciendo (it get dark). Yegorych estaba de buen humor (be* in high spirits/ was, were): ese día (that day) exactamente a las 19:00 (at exactly 19:00) iba a ver (be* going to) el próximo (the next) partido de fútbol (football match) en el nuevo televisor (on the brand-new TV set), que (which) acababa de comprar (just buy*/ bought/ bought) en (at) una tienda rural local (… local rural store).

Para alcanzar el placer total (To reach total pleasure) del (from) próximo proceso (… upcoming process), previamente (previously) había preparado (prepare) cerveza fría (cold beer) y (and) pescado seco (dried fish).

Y a la hora fijada (at the appointed time), encendió el televisor (he turn on the TV), apreciando positivamente (positively appreciatу) efectos de sonido estéreo (stereo sound effect..) y calidad de la imagen mostrada (quality of the displayed picture),

sorbió (sip) un poco de bebida espumosa fría (some cold foaming drink) de (out of) su (his) jarra favorita (favorite mug) y profundizó en la visualización (delved into the visualization).

Pero (but) en el momento más intenso (at the most intense moment) del (of) partido (… game), en (on) la televisión (… TV) de repente algo salió mal (something suddenly go* wrong/ went/ gone), y en un momento (in a moment) la pantalla (… screen) se volvió (turn) completamente negra (completely black).

– ¡Oh!, una porquería alada (Oh, you’re winged crap), te has vuelto a sentar (sit* down/ sat/ sat) en (on) la antena (… antenna) (again), Styopka, ¡qué coño (holy shit)! – Yegorych maldijo irritado (Yegorych curse annoyingly) y salió (go*/ went/ gone) al (into) patio (… yard).

Lanzó una mirada furiosa (He cast an angry glance) al (at) tejado (… roof) de (of) su (his) casa (house) y vio (see*/ saw/ seen) allí (there) lo que (what) había esperado (expect) ver (to see): a la porquería alada, a Styopka (the winged crap Styopka),

que (who) primero (first) se había sentado en silencio (sit* quietly/ sat/ sat) en (on) la antena de televisión (television antenna), pero al ver (see) al dueño de esa (its owner),

comenzó (begin*/ began/ begun) a bailar (to dance) sobre ella (on it), y, además (in addition), emitir graznidos largos y beligerantes (to draw a long and belligerent croak).

– Bueno, ¡sal de aquí (Well, get out of here), Styopka, vuela a tu casa (fly home) y siéntate en tu propia (your own) antena! – gritó amenazadoramente Yegorych
