21. Conception What does dualism actually mean?
ОглавлениеDualism - The Basis of Western Thought?
If you enter into a really spiritual conversation, far away from all rituals and chantings, from all meditation and physical exercises, that are supposed to lead to enlightenment, far away from the spiritual guides, who promote the welfare of their disciples by means of a seemingly dictarial "salvation structure" strive - if you are involved in such a discourse, the word “dualism” will inevitably come up very quickly.
Wu?
To understand the real meaning of this term, it is best, at least one adequate way, to study the scriptures of Zen Buddhism. A wonderful explanation can also be found in works of "Dadaism" of the early 1970s. Let's just take a look at this very important word. The dual, the duality is in it. Duo. DOS. Two. The reduction of something to two ways of looking at things.
Analytical thinking in the West?
The term dualism describes the analytical thinking of Westerners. Far from this original limitation to two different viewpoints, partitions continue, until there is apparently nothing left. In analytical thinking, dualism represents a chain reaction, actually comparable to a never-ending nuclear explosion. The first distinction between “good” and “bad” is ignition.
Adam and Eve?
Here we come across, not surprisingly, an explanatory scheme in the Christian faith. Some truths have also been kept in these traditional words and measures, which people, for the most part, completely disoriented, want to recognize as the word of God. The words about paradise, the tree of knowledge, the forbidden fruit are found in this hodgepodge of the Bible.
Chain of division into chaos?
There the beginning of the chain of chaos mentioned above, the beginning of the human dream, the beginning of ego-attached thinking, the separation from God, from unconditional love, is described. It is that vague moment when Adam accepts the apple from Eve. When the "knowledge" of dualism opens up. The moment of decision, of free human will, as a child of God, to see something as “forbidden”, i.e. to make a decision between “good” and “bad”. So to part with the solitude of God, who is absolute and knows no differences.
Expanding Separation from God?
This separation - actually just a mistake in thinking - still exists today, expanding like the imagined universe. Based on this “knowledge”, the spirit decided to live in precisely this dualism, which does not want to mean anything other than transience, illness, suffering, infirmity and death, as Buddhism knows them as “attachments”. In the Christian faith the whole thing was reduced and regulated in an incredible way until we found the fabulous concept of "sin".
Dualism - the source of human suffering?
The seemingly simple word “dualism” turns out to be the root cause of human suffering. Uncertainty arises from it, and with it inevitably fear. The fear, that not only affects human life, but actually defines it. The almost fascinating quality of dual thought, in a perfidious way very similar to love, namely it expands.
Split up to the point of incomprehension?
Human thought divides, partitions, proceeding from this first fateful approach, on and on, without end. This is the point. Human thinking, the ego structure, is dividing, takes away - creation shapes the whole, the all. What becomes very obvious: We lose ourselves in the existence of a dualistic thought structure, that divides more and more, deviates more and more from the idea of solitude, thus increasingly manifested the separation from God, creation, love
Away from any hierarchy?
True, real spirituality - the short cut of the path we inevitably find ourselves on - requires discipline. But this discipline is only to be used - to dissolve the thought of the discipline. There is an obviousness here, that many people fail. Because such an attempt leads to the abyss of the previous self. The ego suggests uncanny fear, even just looking at this possibility. Because rules, hierarchies - with it fear of repression, however differences, with it fear – are securing its existence.
The darkness of negative thoughts
So when we talk about discipline here, we mean the practical exercise on/with the existing thought structures. It is precisely these extremely chaotic, apparently interwoven, self-affirming and yet individually changing clusters of thoughts, that make up the darkness in front of our real vision. The abyss, that was spoken of before, stands fo the decision, that every soul will make one day - it is the jump from a black, burnt rock into a supposed abyss – but you will land on "golden ground" like a monk centuries ago formulated.
What is this leap into the "abyss"?
It is the moment of understanding. The moment, when you realize how things are going, with the values of this life. It is the moment you decide to leave this structure of judgments and fears, in order to place your trust in the only hands, that exist in reality, in the truth - it is the hands of the Father, who embraces us, who is ourselves.
Dualism is an ego-attached thought-structure ?
Dualism is the ego-attached thought structure, that divides and splinters anything in a deeply divided manner, and is thievingly happy, when it supposedly succeeds in putting individual fragments back together, so that they make sense - however they do. This almost conjures up the image of a gigantic piece of cheese, of many cheese universes, in which the little people follow prefabricated corridors, hide in holes in the cheese body, some even dare to dig their own tunnels, but they always remain trapped in the tangle of corridors in the cheese loaf.
Can there be no truthfulness in dualism?
Trying to find a meaning, a truthfulness in this thinking always has to fail. The search for God, for creation, for love, if one is caught up in this thought of duality, remains completely meaningless. There cannot be any kind of trust in anything here - everything is at the mercy of the thought of impermanence, difference, judgment, sin and thus fear
Look behind the mountain of thoughts?
If one is able to recognize this structure of thought of dualism, it becomes clear, that behind it lies the glory. The wonderful news is, that it has been given to all of us - it is our way - to recognize this. Creation, love, knows no time, our ardent striving for the trusting original ground has long been fulfilled - it is there - only we cannot recognize it, because of the rags of dualistic vision, that sticks before our eyes.
Wonderful awe full of joy?
What the realization brings with it, is such a tremendous and deep feeling of joy in life, filled with astonished awe, that nothing equals it. And yet it is only a mild, gentle, almost vague reflection of true glory. Ultimately, it is the knowledge of the wholeness of creation - it is life in a beautiful dream, with the certainty of waking up to immortality. Because how could creation, love know the beginning and the end?
Jump on "golden ground"?
It is this leap into the abyss to land on “golden ground”, not a break in the life, that was led up to then - no turning back into hermitism, into unattainable, mystical, mysterious, distant holiness. Creation, God love, is not a secret, it cannot only be reached by the chosen. With the knowledge our values change. We are able to accept the beautiful, the reality and see it, that way.
Summary
The only antidote, that frees people from this thought prison of the dualistic thought structures of the ego - is true love, creation itself - in the form of loving thoughts, that contain no differences, dissolve the negative, push it aside, finding it not worthy of attention. Meditation, a mantra - can fill all of our thinking - this is where chanting and all kinds of movement, for example dance - simply physicality, open up as a possibility - which can also lead us to tantra. It is always about the truth, which is complete, i.e. without differences, absolute.
