3 CLASSIFICATION OF PASSENGER AUTOMOBILE TRANSPORTATION AND SERVICE FORMS
ОглавлениеThe classification is necessary in order to link the needs of the population with the capabilities of the transport network and the carrier company. It defines a common language for describing the service and allows you to design routes, select the type of rolling stock, set driving modes and evaluate the quality of work. In the educational and practical tradition, several classification bases are distinguished, and each of them answers its own question: where is transportation performed, why is it performed, what kind of rolling stock and along which route it is carried out, as well as in what mode is traffic organized. The combined application of these grounds provides a holistic picture and allows for informed planning decisions.
According to the territorial coverage, urban, suburban, inter-municipal, intercity and international communications are distinguished. Urban transportation is limited to the borders of a locality or urban agglomeration and mainly serves short trips with pronounced irregularities in time of day. Suburban transportation connects the city with the surrounding belt of settlements; it is characterized by pendulum labor and educational flows, increased requirements for regularity and availability of seating. Intermunicipal transportation connects neighboring municipalities within the same subject; there is a noticeable focus on administrative and shopping centers. Intercity transportation covers connections between major centers of the country and places increased demands on comfort, sanitary breaks, and stop infrastructure. International transportation, in addition to technological tasks, includes border and customs procedures, coordination of schedules and compliance with the rules of several jurisdictions. This division is important not only as the geography of the route, but also as a set of regulatory requirements, work and rest conditions for drivers, requirements for ticket technology and passenger information.
