Gardening and carpentry go very much together. Nearly all the structures and appliances, etc. needed in the garden are made of wood, and in these days of shortages it is invaluable to be able to make your own. Even though you do not make them all yourself it is useful to know how they are made so that you know how to carry out repairs properly.

There are certain obvious items that belong to the subject: greenhouse, lights, shed, barrow, and so on. All these appear in these pages. There are, however, some things for out of doors which many men wish to make but which scarcely come under the heading of garden carpentry. Examples are: trailer caravan, sidecar, canoe, dinghy, henhouse, trek cart, duckhouse, garage, etc., and for these the reader should see the companion volume OUTDOOR WOODWORK, published at the same price. It gives designs also for a lean-to greenhouse, portable workshop, standard beehive, cycle stand, kennel, entrance gates, and so on.
