Bromoform is insoluble in dilute alcohol, but may be dissolved by the aid of glycerine. The following formula has been devised:
| Bromoform | 1 part |
| Alcohol | 2 parts |
| Compound tincture of cardamon | 2 parts |
| Glycerine | 1 1/2 parts |
