Colour is pure magic. For me, colour is one of the most crucial elements that can take a piece of artwork from good to great. It can be seen as a defining part of a style or brand, making your artwork instantly recognizable. Most importantly, the application of colour is fun!

Colour can stir up emotions, create a mood and set a tone. I liken colour in a painting to music in a movie; just as music can enhance the feeling the director is trying to portray, colour can do the same thing for your painting. It reinforces a message and conveys impact, and the interaction between two or three colours placed next to each other can create a visually exciting piece. Be bold and courageous with your colour.
