With his men than reparit was,

That litill sped in thair chassing;

Men sais, Schir Thomas Randale than,

Chassand, the Kyngis baner wan; 88

Quhen the chaseris releit war,

And Johne of Lorn had met thaim thar, 92

He tald Schir Amer all the cas,

How that the King eschapit was;

And how that he his fif men slew,

And syne he to the wod hym drew. 96

Quhen Schir Amer herd this, in hy

He sanyt hym for the ferly,

And said; “He is gretly to pris;

“For I knaw nane that liffand is 100

“That at myscheif can help hym swa.

“I trow he suld be hard to sla

“And he war bodyn all evynly.”
