The violent struggle of Jesus against Satan continues in the Church, which is why he teaches his first disciples, and those of all times, to pray, “Do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one” (Mt 6:13). The deliverance from demons in the Name of Jesus is one of the signs that will accompany his disciples’ preaching of the Good News, as Jesus says in his final words to them, “These signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons” (Mk 16:17). We can look now at other places in the life of his disciples that that refer to this struggle between the Church and Satan.
