Internal Attitude
The internal attitude, or mindset, is not only an important factor in a prosperous life, but also very essential in sales. As humans, we have the ability to control our thoughts. This is what distinguishes us from animals. Unsuccessful people let their thoughts control them and thus unconsciously reduce themselves to the level of animals. Even worse, their thoughts are mostly negatively influenced by television, newspapers, social media and their environment. If you do not control these thoughts and do not try to influence them yourself, you will not be successful.
First and foremost, it is about a fundamentally positive attitude and personal beliefs. Contrary to popular belief, these can be changed. Many beliefs originate from childhood. For this reason, it is very important that you keep yourself in check. Ask yourself: What are my current beliefs and how do they influence me? How can I change them into positive new ones and internalize them through daily training?
These beliefs become a morning and evening ritual. Hang them in a clearly visible place where you see them every day, for example above the mirror in the bathroom. Please don’t laugh, but possible beliefs are:
I like myself.
Everything I need is already inside me.
Money is a good thing and a motivator to help me realize my dreams.
I know that my partner honestly loves me from the bottom of my heart.
I love myself and my body as it is.
I am valuable.
Those around me love and respect me.
Success is an integral part of my life.
It is particularly important that you make these sentences a ritual. With rituals, you no longer need self-discipline, because they become as natural as brushing your teeth. Researchers in the USA have found that a habit is solidified after 62 days. For example, if you decide to jog every morning, after 62 days of continuous practice you will find that you no longer question the run in the morning. It has become a ritual and you do it naturally. Another habit that I highly recommend is writing a success journal. One can safely assume that all successful people write in a success journal. I also write in an idea journal and in a new insights journal. Make it a routine to write three to five successes in your journal every night before you go to sleep. These don’t have to be huge successes. It is enough, for example, that someone has thanked you personally for the help you have given. Read the journal whenever you have doubts about yourself, or when you are facing an important negotiation. You will find that it strengthens your self-confidence and helps you to have a positive attitude.
Mindset and what you think will influence everything that happens around you. A wise man once said, “Watch what you think, it becomes your words.” For this reason, it is very important to consciously choose the people with whom you spend the majority of your time. These people will significantly influence your mindset. If these thoughts are mostly negative and detest any change, you should think carefully about whether this is the right environment for you. Try to get to know the people who have already arrived at the place where you want to go. This is easier than you think. Look around your area and network. There are meet-ups of great people everywhere that you can attend. MasterMind meetings, rotary clubs or marketing clubs are everywhere. You can find good information on this topic at www.meetup.com. A collection of meetings in various topics for anyone interested. A great event, which among other things teaches public speaking, is Toastmasters. Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization founded in the U.S. in 1924 by Ralph Smedley to promote the art of public speaking, effective communication, and people skills. Here you’re sure to meet some wonderful people who will give you the right boost towards a positive attitude.
As a further push for your positive mindset, you can set yourself deliberate and measurable goals for the next five to ten years. Many people overestimate what they can achieve in one year, but completely underestimate what they can achieve in ten years. Therefore, set that ten-year goal unreasonably high. Think about a goal and increase it tenfold.
“

”
Free yourself from the limits that other people have imposed on you. The only limit is yourself. You can achieve anything if you set it as a goal and continuously work on it. Everyone will have setbacks in life, but the doers get back up and don’t focus on what was, they focus on their goals ahead. If you do experience a setback, ask yourself what it taught you. You can learn from everything and extract something positive from it. Learn from your mistakes and draw positive energy from them so that it will not happen to you again. Never look for the problems or mistakes in others. By blaming others, you give them the power.
Adjust your mindset with every customer contact. Even if the contact person does not have the same values as you and may be unpleasant, it helps a lot to think of ten good things about that person beforehand to get you in the mood for the conversation. Forget about any doubts that only distract you from the task at hand. Doubts are the disruptive factors that have prevented many a great idea from coming to fruition.
