In respect to you, the reader, I must say how excited I am to present Daniela Cupse’s work in a way that I think you will experience her poems deep down in your inner core where dark alleys come hand in hand with joyful places, and paradoxes have moments of pristine clarity, a poetry of two persons infinitely looking for each other like Escher’s reverse symmetry elements or the Theory of Surreal Numbers, where the surreals share many properties with the real numbers. This journey reveals a state of reverie, embracing a behavior of an incredibly passionate desire of life. It is a stretch through spaces where feelings are not just our figment of imagination but literally they could become tactile and bring harm, nevertheless unimaginable joy to anima vestra.

Some translations stick closely to the Romanian version, others do not because, at the end of the day, the experience is the main pillar in poetry, and not necessarily the use of perfect balance. The twist and artifice in her appearance is unique and very powerful, and you should expect quite a bit of challenge in the readings as she likes to encrypt images, yet she remains human and ecstatic even if she travels with ease through dreams, pain, regrets, reflections, love, and antagonistic thoughts. Daniela Cupse’s poems break down our daily routines and divulge our deepest sorrows we were so sure they were buried.
