Chapter 1: Cloudy Morning

Оглавление

The starting sun wakes up on a glorious day of green. Little Lily and her brother lay in bed next to the sun shone window. On the crevice of the window there lies a little tree sitting in a pot with green leaves shooting out from all sides. The tree shines green unbroken by the past as lily snuggles in close with her brother phoenix arms wrapped around his little sister; The peace fills their dreams for everything is at peace. The Tv on the other side of the house goes on talking of nothing important but you can just barely hear through the white noise a blabbering of a virus going on though it’s only two confirmed cases at the moment. The father sits in the kitchen with his wife creating harmony between the two. They work together making breakfast for their sleeping angels. They begin to whisper in the kitchen as to not wake the children from their dreams for that would be unwelcome. The whispering grows as the smell of food begins to fill the house. It slowly creeps into the room like a slithering snake of the little ones and fills the noses of lily and phoenix. Lily opens her light blue eyes as she lays in her pink dress. Phoenix’s arm stay wrapped around his sister while lily looks out the window at the edge of their bed. She glances out to the sky seeing the green trees flowing in the air and the flowers so ever fluttering giving off a vibrant array of colors. She looks around the room seeing the white closed closet with complimenting white walls around. The smell of breakfast fills lily’s nose more and more and the ravenous call of the munchies begins to fill her stomach. You could hear the lions growl in her belly growing so loudly but she stays laying in bed. She twists her head slowly to her back to see her brother's mouth closed and his eyelashes curled so ever upwards like an angel. The purity of his skin showing as though he was shining in her blue eyes. She gives a little smile to her sleeping protector and slightly taps at his arm wrapped around her. Phoenix comes to life at his princess's taps and opens his hazel eyes. They stop for a moment just staring into each other's eyes like if they are looking into the souls of each other; The bright blue of a lily and the hazel of a phoenix, complimenting each other. The stare is interrupted when lily’s belly begins to rumble. “Are you hungry?” says phoenix in a gentle concerned voice.

” Just a little” lily replies in a sweet voice.

“Doesn’t sound like a little to me” phoenix gives with a small smile.

“Shut up,” lily says giving a playful push.

They make there way out of the synchronized bed and lily puts on little bunny slippers that have their ears sticking up. She pulls her pink dress down some more and makes her walk down the small hallway with her protector right behind her wearing a white t-shirt, barefoot. They walk in on their parents sharing a kiss in the kitchen. “Ewwwwww” they say in unison. Mommy and daddy stop their moment of love and direct their attention to their kids standing in the entranceway beside one-another. They look at each other with their eyes giving a gentle smile and the mother walks towards her angels with the father staying behind preparing the plates of food. Lily watches her walk over almost in slow motion as she looks at her luscious hair flowing from side to side like a flowing river. The mother bends over to her children standing below her and puts her hands on her knees as she says “Well good morning to you” glancing at the both of them, smiling. The children stand there looking at their mom as if they had planned to stay silent like their minds were intertwined. After a moment of silence, they smile and hug their mom wrapping their little arms around her tall loving body. “There we go,” the mother says loudly “Give momma some love”. The dad sits in the back of them hearing them talking as a smile grows across his face. “Ok ok breakfast is ready so go eat up”. They escape from their mom's love grasp and make there way to the round table. They hop into the tall chairs and wait for the arrival of the king. He comes turning around with two plates in his hand. He walks over bobbing left to right like a beat to a song and lays down the plates in front of his children. The plate was complemented with that of strawberries and eggs with bacon and all sorts of options for his family to munch upon. They look down at the plate and grab their fork and begin eating with the tv in the background still talking. “How’s your best friend doing,” dad says to his queen while preparing his own plate.

"She’s doing ok, she said she’s gonna come down here but she has a cold and doesn’t want to get them sick” nodding her head to her kids eating. “I can’t wait to see her," she says excitedly like a little girl.

“When was the last time you saw her,” he asks.

Scratching her head she says "I think since graduation.” A small pause comes in her voice “It's sad that when we graduate everyone just disappears and you never see them again.”

“That's for you to decide though,” The king says giving a quiet smirk with his eyes faced downwards before looking back up to her “You can only let go of someone if you actively want to, and even then your true friends will stay by your side for life.”

The queen walks to her valiant king and sits next to him and says “See that's why I married you” as they give a kiss to each other with their kids sitting on the other part of the table recounting “ewwwwww.” Lily speaks in her gentle voice again “Just dont do that” while flapping her hands.

Breakfast was now finished and lily gets out of her chair and walks over to the living room couch and lays down for a moment. Phoenix comes walking over and sits at the edge of her feet. The news stood on as the dad prepared for work on that Saturday morning. He picks up his black suit from his chair and begins putting it on ready to go to work as his queen goes to the other couch sitting right next to the door. He tightens his tie, buttons the piece of his suit, and tries to hide the hole on his pants leg.

“You really should fix that,” the mother says.

“Why fix what’s not broken. They don't come for the suit I wear, they come to speak with a highly praised realtor” he says putting his hands at his waist heroically.

“If only you were highly praised” she replies giving a playful frown.

“Just you wait till they howl my name in the wind; just. you. wait.” he says pounding his head down with every word.

He grabs at the handle of the door and twist giving his queen a smooch on the way out. “Don't have too much fun now,” he says to his little ones as they reply “bye daddy.” They all sit in a happy silence and watch the news. It begins to grow so silent to the point where you can hear the flowers blooming and the ground growing anew with luminous green grass reflecting the silence. So quiet but yet it speaks what words cannot. Lily leans up and grabs the remote from the end table and begins switching through the channels. She scrolls and scrolls before getting to a child show that she likes which you can tell by her eyes getting wide once seeing it. She stops right there and puts the remote down in front of her belly like a lions baby. Suddenly, the silence is interrupted with a knock at the door. Everyone glances towards the door and waits for an audible response or anything indicating that its a package. A calm voice pierces through the wood “Its the police, we just want to talk to the owner and then well go.” The queen of the kingdom stands up concerned and makes her way towards the door. She twists the knob and slides the door open to see two officers dressed in dark blue. They stood beside each other with a sad tint in their eyes. “Are you the residents here?” they ask.

“Yes I am," mommy says scared “what can I help you with?”

“Ummmm I don't know how to say this,” he says giving brief pauses in his words.

“Say what” mommy replies with a scared look on her face and eyes.

“Umm we traced something back to you and I’m just gonna put it straight. Your friend that I believe that’s been writing letters to you has sorely passed, along with her sister." The face of the queen now grew sore and red. The tears held back making her face grow plump red as if she was going to explode at any moment. You could hear the officer's voices fading as she grew trapped in her mind. “Mam Mam,” the officers say though she can no longer hear. Her mind begins to wobble like an earthquake in a void. She only stood still staring at the floor holding back everything; all her regrets, all her love, all her prepared apologies, gone. “MAM,” they say again as she snaps back to the world. “Are you okay?” the gentlemen ask empathetically.

“Yes, I’m fine” though you could hear in her voice the struggle internal. Her children could only sit and watch in horror as their queen grew weaker. They could see her legs shivering and her hands trembling in fright. She was breaking right in front of them without even giving a thought about them while trapped in her chains of loss.

"How’d she pass,” she chokes out.

“We're not sure as of right now but we’ll let you know as soon as we can,” the men tell her.

“Thank you for telling me” she struggled to say hearing the tears water in her voice.

“Just let us know if you need any help and well be back as fast as we can,” they tell her gently.

She gently closed the door and took a step back from it without turning around. “Mommy,” Lily says curiously with a hint of fear in her voice. The daze of what was told filled the queen's brain as it zoomed around of all the past experiences never becoming fulfilled. “I'm gonna go watch Tv in my room so y’all can have some bonding time. Ok,” she replies with a single tear beginning to reveal itself as she gives them a breaking and quivering smile. She walks down the hallway grabbing the letters of mail from “bestie” as the little ones watch their queen's mind slowly fall. You could hear the door gently shut and then the tears began to come as you could hear the howl of a queen break through the door. The blood ripping howl could be felt shattering through all the objects in the house almost causing them to also shake in anguish while the little ones began to look at each other fearing what could happen now that their queen was shattering into pieces like glass.
