For defoaming and deaerating formulations based on acrylic emulsions, defoamers with low to moderately strong hydrophobicity are generally used. More strongly hydrophobic grades often cause incompatibility. Due to their good compatibility and good gloss retention, modified polysiloxanes or silicone free polymers are widely used defoamers. In architectural coatings, mineral oils and vegetable oils are also commonly used.
