ACTIVATED CARBON is a porous CARBON MATERIAL, a CHAR that has been subjected to reaction with gases, sometimes with the addition of chemicals, e.g. ZnCl₂, before, during, or after CARBONIZATION in order to increase its adsorptive properties.
