ADDING A HANGING SLEEVE

Оглавление

If you are going to hang your quilt, either on the wall at home or in an exhibition, it will need a hanging sleeve.

1 | Cut a piece of fabric 9 inches (23 cm) wide and equal to the width of the quilt. Turn a ½-inch (1-cm) hem at each short end and machine stitch.

2 | Fold in half along its length, right sides together, and stitch the raw edges together with a ½-inch (1-cm) seam. Turn right sides out and press so that the seam is in the middle. You can adjust the pressing of the sleeve at this point so that the front of the sleeve is deeper than the back. When stitched to the quilt, the sleeve will have a slight bulge, which will accommodate the thickness of the hanging pole.

3 | Slip-stitch the sleeve to the back of the quilt along the sleeve’s top and bottom edges, placing the top edge just below the binding and making sure that the seam side is underneath.
