Life-Size Cowboy
Clayton Urbshott of Owen
Sound, Ont., Canada, has been a meat cutter for
40 years and has been carving for the last 10.
Preferring to carve life-size figures, Clayton said,
“My goal for each carving is to make it more
detailed and accurate than the last. I’m not artistic,
so I use reference photos and measurements.”

Snake Stick
Don Conner of Portland, Ore., is a
retired law enforcement officer. He carved this
walking stick from southern hardwood. He coated
the stick with three coats of Minwax and topped
the cane with a deer antler, covered the joining
with an elk antler ferrule, and added deer antler
tips on a leather thong along with a medallion.
