Calcium in Bone
ОглавлениеBone is the major reservoir of Ca in the body. The majority of skeletal Ca is located in the mineral phase of bone as hydroxyapatite [Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2] [2]. The hydroxyapatite crystal plays a critical role in the mechanical weight-bearing properties of bone and serves as a source of Ca to support a variety of Ca-dependent biological systems and to maintain blood ionized Ca within the normal range.
