Hormones Regulating Calcium Homeostasis
ОглавлениеThe ECF Ca concentration is maintained within a narrow range because of the importance of the Ca ion to numerous cellular functions including cell division, cell adhesion and plasma membrane integrity, protein secretion, muscle contraction, neuronal excitability, glycogen metabolism, and coagulation. This regulation is mediated by hormones including especially PTH and 1,25(OH)2D, which play a central role in regulating blood Ca acting on one or more of bone, gut, and kidney to alter fluxes of Ca to maintain ECF Ca.
