Decreased Glomerular Filtration

Оглавление

When GFR is reduced, the generation of large urine volume is limited by the volume of tubular fluid delivered to the distal nephron. If GFR is 10 mL/min only, 14.4 L are filtered daily. Only 30% (about 3–4 L) of the filtrate is delivered distally. This volume becomes the upper limit of possible urine flow, even assuming no water reabsorption in the distal nephron sites. Intake in excess of this volume will cause such patient to become hyponatremic [21].
