From the bird's-eye view

Оглавление

One warm summer morning the children were playing football. The match lasted for more than an hour. Deeply involved in the game, the boys did not see either their grazed knees or dusty clothes. Only the eyes, fixed firmly at the ball, shone on their flushed faces.

“Sanya! Get the ball!” “Pass me!”

“What are you looking at?! Eh …”

Sanya, a five-year-old boy who brought a lot of success to his team, unexpectedly missed the ball. And now he had to listen to his friends’ reproaches. Wiping sweat from his face, he resentfully looked at others and slowly wandered away from the football pitch. He sat down on the grass and hugged his knees. He really wanted to cry. Staring at one and the same point, he carefully examined the butterfly which was sitting on the grass.

The butterfly, easily flapping its wings, flew to a tree, then to another. It looked down at everyone, at the pitch, the ball and even the big football goals, everything seemed to be something small and trivial. It was flying around, admiring the blue sky and the bright sun, and paid no attention to the match which had already been over.

“Sanya, why are you sitting here? Are you upset, aren’t you?” asked his brother, kneeling down by his side.

“Me?” the boy suddenly perked up. “Why? Ahh … If you look from above, it seems like there is nothing to be upset about …”

The guys walked home together, talking and kicking the ball.
