Early in the morning, the doorbell rang and woke Sasha up. He got up and quietly, so not to wake up his elder brother, wandered to the kitchen. There were two chocolates on the table.

“It was your friend, Ilyusha, he brought a treat,” his mother smiled, “It’s his birthday today.”

Sashka was delighted and took both chocolates to the living room. He settled comfortably on the sofa and began to taste his treat. It turned out to be so tasty and eaten up too quickly. Sashka looked at his brother's chocolate. "Well, I'll eat half of Seryozha's chocolate. How will he know that there were two of them? I'll say that they gave one for both of us …" Sasha made up an excuse for himself and ate half of the chocolate. Then, in order to figure out what kind of filling he had, nuts or raisins, he had to eat some more. After that, in order to understand how many nuts were there in each square, he had to eat up another piece … As a result, when his brother woke up, the last two squares of chocolate were lying on the table.

“Good morning,” Sashka began cautiously.

“Hello! Where did you get a chocolate bar from?” wandered Seryozha.

“Oh… Ilyukha brought … a treat. It’s his birthday today.”

“Such a small piece?” his brother asked full of doubts.”

“Well … the piece was a little bit bigger … but not much bigger.”

Seryozha took the last piece, divided it into two halves and gave one to Sasha. The boy's eyes widened in surprise and shame.

“Aren’t you going to tell me off? I’ve eaten it all up!

“I’m not,” answered his brother.

“And will you just share the last piece with me?”

“Yes, I will. Help yourself.”

“Well, it's unfair! I acted so shamelessly while you were sleeping,” Sasha could not calm down.

“And now you’re feeling bad about it,” Seryozha smiled and calmly went to the bathroom to brush his teeth.

Sashka silently watched his brother go away and tried to understand why he felt so upset. Did it have bitter feelings due to his brother or his own behavior?
