TALLIT

Оглавление

Meditation before putting on the tallit:

I am about to wrap myself in this tasselled robe (tallit) to fulfil the commandment of my Creator, as is written in the Torah: “They shall make tassels on the corners of their garments for all generations.” And just as I cover myself with the tallit in this world, so may my soul be worthy of being clothed in a beautiful tallit in the World to Come in the Garden of Eden. Amen.

Unfold the tallit and, before wrapping oneself in it, say:

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us to wrap ourselves in the tasselled garment.

After wrapping oneself in it, say:

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O LORD, and the children of men find refuge under the shadow of Your wings. They are filled with the rich plenty of Your house. You give them drink from Your river of delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light, we see light. Continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
