MORNING BLESSINGS

Оглавление

The Leader starts from here.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who gives the heart understanding to distinguish day from night.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who has not made me a heathen.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who has not made me a slave.

Men say:

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who has not made me a woman.

Women say:

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who has made me according to His will.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who has given sight to the blind.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who clothes the naked.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who sets captives free.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who raises those bowed down.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who spreads the earth above the waters.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who provides me with all I need.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who makes firm the steps of man.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who girds Israel with strength.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who crowns Israel with glory.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who gives strength to the weary.

Blessed are You, LORD our GOD, King of the Universe, who removes sleep from my eyes and slumber from my eyelids. And may it be Your will, LORD our GOD and GOD of our ancestors, to accustom us to Your Torah, and make us attached to Your commandments. Lead us not into error, transgression, iniquity, temptation or disgrace. Do not let the evil instinct dominate us. Keep us far from a bad man and a bad companion. Help us attach ourselves to the good instinct and to good deeds and bend our instincts to be subservient to You. Grant us, this day and every day, grace, lovingkindness and compassion in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us, and bestow lovingkindness upon us. Blessed are You, LORD, who bestows lovingkindness on His people Israel.

May it be Your will, LORD my GOD and GOD of my ancestors, to save me today and every day, from the arrogant and from arrogance itself, from a bad man, a bad friend, a bad neighbour, a bad mishap, a destructive adversary, a harsh trial and a harsh opponent, whether or not he is a son of the covenant.

A person should always be GoD-fearing, privately and publicly, acknowledging the truth and speaking it in his heart. He should rise early and say:

Master of all worlds, not because of our righteousness do we lay our pleas before You, but because of Your great compassion. What are we? What are our lives? What is our lovingkindness? What is our righteousness? What is our salvation? What is our strength? What is our might? What shall we say before You, LORD our GOD and GOD of our ancestors? Are not all the mighty like nothing before You, the men of renown as if they had never been, the wise as if they know nothing, and the understanding as if they lack intelligence? For their many works are in vain, and the days of their lives like a fleeting breath before You. The pre-eminence of man over the animals is nothing, for all is but a fleeting breath.

Yet we are Your people, the children of Your covenant, the children of Abraham, Your beloved, to whom You made a promise on Mount Moriah; the offspring of Isaac his only one who was bound on the altar; the congregation of Jacob Your firstborn son whom -because of the love with which You loved him and the joy with which You rejoiced in him – You called Israel and Yeshurun.

Therefore it is our duty to thank You, and to praise, glorify, bless, sanctify and give praise and thanks to Your name. Happy are we, how good is our portion, how lovely our fate, how beautiful our heritage. Happy are we who, early and late, evening and morning, say twice each day –

All, aloud:

Listen, Israel: the LORD is our GOD, the LORD is One.

Quietly:

Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom for ever and all time.

It was You who existed before the world was created, it is You now that the world has been created, it is You in this world and You in the World to Come. Sanctify Your name through those who sanctify Your name, and sanctify it throughout Your world. By Your salvation may our pride be exalted and raised high. Blessed are You, LORD, who sanctifies Your name among the multitudes.

You are the LORD our GOD in heaven and on earth, and in the highest heaven of heavens. Truly, You are the first and You are the last, and besides You there is no GOD. Gather those who hope in You from the four quarters of the earth. May all mankind recognise and know that You alone are GOD over all the kingdoms on earth. You made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all they contain. Who among all the works of Your hands, above and below, can say to You, “What are You doing?” Heavenly Father, deal kindly with us for the sake of Your great name by which we are called, and fulfil for us, LORD our GOD, that which is written: “At that time I will bring you home, and at that time I will gather you, for I will give you renown and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I bring back your exiles before your eyes, says the LORD.”
