Late June, Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts. Although these days it competes with dozens of similar contenders, ‘Glasto’ is still the summer season’s biggest and most prestigious event, attracting top names from the world of music. The announcement of each year’s line-up is usually met with great fanfare by the press. It’s not cheap – expect to pay £185 for a ticket – and bad weather and plentiful mud seem almost guaranteed, but that doesn’t stop more than 120,000 people turning up to party over the long weekend in front of more than 80 stages playing host to in excess of 700 acts.
