Winter’s Kiss From Jack Frost
ОглавлениеI walk down to the old creek in my backyard and take a picture or two
All of the geese that lived here have left and toward the south they flew
I love the early morning crisp air walking through my field without a care
I miss my beautiful wife and time we spent walking or sitting by the fire in a chair
Many a day I held her hand while we came to this old creek to laugh and play
One day she could barely walk and she told me she felt sick that day
We let the day pass and then she felt well and then the sickness returned in a short spell
I did not know what to do so off to the doctor we went to find out if he could tell
My wife went from running to being barely able to talk or properly walk
I am afraid of what the doctor will say because my wife can barely talk
As I helped her out of the car she almost fell and still she told me was fine
She has such a strong personality, a woman who always told me to walk a fine line
Now she needs me to be strong and help her walk into the doctor’s room
I see an older lady moving some chairs and cleaning with a broom
We are the last patient for the day and we are told to take a seat
I feel anxious we are going to find out something terrible when we meet
I create a smile on my face to take away some of the tension she fears
The doctor’s door opened wide and a small man appears
We are both proud people who have never been sick or tried to quit any race
The doctor’s face looks sad and I am more afraid when I see the look on my wife’s face
She is very weak and white as a ghost and the doctor helps me find her a seat
He tells us he has seen a few walk like her and just as sick when they meet
The doctor recommends some tests and places his stethoscope on her chest
I see a worried look in the doctor’s eye and then he tells us she needs plenty of rest
I am afraid of what I will hear and then the doctor tells us Parkinson’s may be here
I ask him how you know and how can this happen, can you tell me clear
My wife is trembling and she starts to cry in my arms and so do I
The doctors tells us sometimes the disease moves fast and he will not lie
In cases like this people often live for a short time and then suddenly die
My wife is trying to be strong and so am I as I wipe the tears from her left eye
The doctor told us the tests will tell us if he is right, and to go home and rest tonight
I do not know what to say so I tell him we will not lie down and we will fight
I thank the doctor and then I look at my wife’s weak body and sad eyes
She smiles and tells me she would rather know the truth than hear lies
As I help her stand her knees buckle and she hit the floor
I yelled and I hear the doctor come running as he comes through the door
He told us off to the hospital we all will go and get those tests today
I am lost for words and can remember how my wife seemed healthy yesterday
One painful week past seeing her in agony holding my wife as she cried
I lost my wife, and held her close looking into her sad eyes as she painfully died
A year has passed and every morning I still walk by the creek thinking about my wife
I remember how she told me; I love to see the winter’s kiss from Jack Frost creating life
White ice crystals cover the grass and trees and then moisture melts creating life
Yes I have so many beautiful memories of my best friend I called my beautiful wife
