Lazy Days Spent In My Special Chair
ОглавлениеMy name is Fred and I live my life without many worries on my mind
My owners are special and always provide me my food and treat me kind
I am growing older by the day and my joints feel stiff when it rains
My fifteenth birthday has come and gone and today my legs are full of pains
I am told by my owners to eat special food that will help me stay strong
I hate the taste and eat it all when I am hungry, because I know they’re not wrong
They really try to keep me alive and yet someday soon I may die
I hope I go fast with not much pain and I really don’t want to whimper or cry
I am a proud dog used too running wild in my youth basically free
Now I enjoy this soft chair and barely move hardly able to see
My hearing seems to be ok; it is my eyesight that troubles me
I hear a stranger’s car pull into the yard yet I cannot see who it could be
I am afraid my days of being a good guard dog have passed me by
I feel pains in parts of my body and that is no way to die
I want to go peacefully without pain living out my final days until I die
Death seems to occupy my mind these days and I wonder why
The neighbors’ dog Charlie lived till he was fifteen and then he was hit by a car
I wonder sometimes if Charlie walked on purpose across the road too far
He was sick and he showed no fear when it was his time to die
Perhaps I will meet Charlie in dog heaven way up high in the sky
