About the Authors

Tao Wang

•Director, Center for Health and Medical Communication, School of Media and Communication, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China;

•Director, Health and Medical Communication Research Center, School of Television Arts, Communication University of Zhejiang, China;

•Executive Deputy Director of Emergency Medicine Department and Director of Emergency Management Office of Shanghai East Hospital, Tongji University School of Medicine, China.


Dr. Wang obtained his undergraduate medical training at the Shanghai Second Medical University, China, and his master’s degree in Surgery at Tongji University, China. He has over 20 years of experience working in orthopedic trauma clinic at Shanghai Sixth People’s hospital. He has published more than 80 academic papers in leading journals including The Lancet. He has won the second prize of China National Science and Technology Progress Award. In 2018 he was invited as a special guest to the Academician Conference of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Zhongqing Xu

Dr. Xu obtained her undergraduate medical training at the Shanghai Medical University, China, and her master’s degree in Internal Medicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, China. She was a visiting scholar at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa in 2017 and studied short-term in HKFCP and RCGP in 2019. She has worked in the emergency department and general practice department of Tongren Hospital for more than 20 years. She has published more than 20 academic papers.

Yi Mou

•Special Researcher, School of Media and Communication, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China;

•Associate Director, Center for Health and Medical Communication, School of Media and Communication, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.


Dr. Mou obtained her Ph.D. in Communication from University of Connecticut in the U.S. Her research interests include new media studies and health communication, such as employing new media tools to achieve health preventive objectives. She has published more than 30 papers in SCI- and SSCI-indexed journals and won several awards from international conferences. She also serves on the editorial boards of five international academic journals.
