Case Study: Example of Experimental Evaluation in the 1930s: The Cambridge-Somerville Youth Study

Оглавление

The Cambridge-Somerville Youth Study, which began in 1935, is one of the earliest attempts at building evaluation into a community-based treatment program to prevent juvenile delinquency. One contribution of this study to evaluation’s history was its early success in combining large-scale social program evaluation with longitudinal design. It also highlighted some potential hazards in executing and drawing evaluative conclusions built on longitudinal designs. Several follow-up evaluations have been conducted over the past 70 years to assess the impact of the program.
