Review from the publisher
ОглавлениеBrief, but vividly bright Alina’s novel «Nothing happens just like that» arises interest from the very laconic and mysterious prologue. Two built up plotlines have nothing in common with place of events, time or heroes. Though, it is just the first impression.
While reading these two seemingly different destiny descriptions – one takes place in Russia during war and post-war period of 1940-s, another unfolds abroad in present days – one involuntarily compares their daily round, feelings and fate. An intrigue on what really interconnects all these heroes remains to the very last chapter and strikes the readers by unusualness of proposed point of tangency, sacramental deep sense, resembling the works of Steven King.
Nothing appears excessive – neither meetings, nor dialogs or deeds…
Nothing happens just like that! This plain, but for some scaring truth was depicted by Alina in a unique narrative style, constraining to think over – what is predestinated for a man by a destiny, are we able to control it, how strong are our capacities, how broad are the bounds?
Apart from unconventional plot and mixture of narrative styles, from the first to the third person, review of sightseeing attractions and historic events, one points out legerity of author’s phrase, at times running to ingenuousness, frankness and a wish to share with the readers the mysteries of the world and its structure, mysteries of her soul and emotions.
It is noteworthy that these are the very first steps in Alina’s work – the more touching the novel’s dedication appears. It is evident that, viewing such debut, further works of an author shall be read voraciously, considered and debated.
We would expressively wish Alina success in her work, hoping to face complete version of a novel and to read the new books as fast as possible. Indeed, nothing happens just like that – every story desires to be narrated.
