The First Meeting.

Оглавление

Megan thought about the first time she met her best friends while she was getting ready for work. The four of them are so different ideologically speaking, and that really should make them not work. But they do. Even their first meeting had them fighting with each other, but it was a spirited debate, and they continue to love those debates and they always respect each other while debating. Even though a lot of their time is spent debating various aspects of politics, they truly enjoy each others company.

She still remembers the first time she found out that Marc was a democrat. Sarah was no shock, she practically oozes socialism, but Marc was more of a surprise. He seemed must more middle with a little bit of a step to the right but no he is a democrat. Megan thinks that one of the reasons she finds it so hard to believe that Marc is a democrat is because how willing he is to play the game, but then when looking at Bunker that begins to make more sense, given that she is a democrat who is willing to truly play the game of politics as it is.

Scott and her might be on the same side of the spectrum but he is more right than she is. Everyone who knows them think that they should date but if she were to date anyone in her group of friends it would be Marc. They might be different parties theoretically but they are much more alike then her and Scott. Personality wise they have always just clicked, while Sarah and Scott are much more passionate and forceful, Marc and Megan, while very powerful in their own right, prefer sitting in the background and gathering information to be used at a later date.

The first time the four of them met was at intro to politics POL100 waiting for the prof to get to the lecture hall. Scott posed a question about mandatory voting being the most unconstitutional thing to ever be even considered in any democratic society. Sarah apparently could not believe him and starting ranting at him, raising such intelligent points you would have thought she was a graduate instead of a first year just like her. Marc then got involved suggesting that there might be some form of compromise rather than it being one way or the other entirely. This was an important turning point because Megan realized that she wanted to keep having this debate, because it wasn't ending in a shouting match, but continuing to be an intelligent debate about the core values and concepts, rather than the person saying the statement.

The four of them didn't even realize when the prof showed up until he asked if they were done and he could begin teaching. After class that day they all went out and got coffee, talking more about who they are and why they believe what we believe, and from that moment on they were best friends, nothing has managed to shake that friendship, not even their vast political differences, and they do exist. There may be some times where Megan is sure that Sarah is going to kill Scott for something that he has said, but then someone tries to make a snarky comment and she is right there with the rebuttal, because the only one allowed to argue with Scott is her.
