The Downfall.

Оглавление

"Hey Scott, you're our fastest typist... can you type something for me?" Sarah finally figured out exactly what she wanted to say and she wants to get it out before she forgets.

"Sure what is it?" Scott already has his hands poised to start typing.

"Our first blog post, its name 'The Downfall'.

"Okay... go."

"Welcome to the downfall of the hegemony of the United States of America. Welcome to the end of an era that will be bigger than Britain after the war. Welcome to the end of America being the worldwide standard, and welcome to the end of life in the international community as we know it. What is bringing all of this to us, this election. It does not matter who wins by this point, the fact that the two front runners have the highest unfavorables, the fact that people do not like people running for the highest position in the land. This is what America is showing the rest of the world. There is no way that the rest of the world will look to America for any guidance if this is the best American 'democracy' can do. No one is going to take America seriously anymore and that will be the downfall of the hegemonic position that America has enjoyed for so long. The international system and economy has relied on America for so long, and America has enjoyed the responsibilities and perks of that position, which is about to be gone, because of this election, and the implications of it. This is not okay, and people know that it is not okay but they think there is nothing that they can do. They are wrong! There is so much that people can do, but to start with, the people need to stand up. They need to stand up and say that this is not okay, they need to call their members of congress, they need to call their senators, they need to call the goddamn President. The American people need to stand up and not sit down until something happens. These people are held accountable to the American people and so the American people need to speak up. There is so much more that the American people can do beyond just punching a ballot and it is time that they start acting. Stand up and do not sit down. Let your anger and displeasure be known. Do not show the rest of the world that America is so weak that their only two options are a bumbling blustering fool and a conniving crook. Show the world that America is strong, show the world that America is the standard to watch. The American government cannot extol the virtues of democracy if this is what democracy has led to. We need to use technology and social media to our advantage. We can contact people all over the country, and we can talk to our politcians. This is the time for real change, change that can only come from the People. No one will listen if it just from an anonymous blog. The rest of the country needs to stand up and tell the government and the candidates exactly what you think. This is the time for the American people to make a statement. Stand up and do not sit down. This is the time for Americans to take back their country, and their reputation. Stand up and do not sit down. This is the time, if Americans don't stand up, it will be the downfall of the world as we know it. Stand up and do not fucking sit down."

...

"Holy shit Sarah, how long have you been holding that in?" Marc was the first to recover after her speech, although Scott did not miss a single word.

"I was just sitting here thinking about how dangerous this election is and all the words fell in place... was it okay?"

"Okay? Sarah that was amazing, we are going to post it as soon as the blog is up and running." Megan starts to work on finishing the blog so that they can get that post out there.

The other three friends all decided individually that Sarah will be responsible for creating the content for their blog, because none of them can do what she just did.
