A Self-Directed Vision of Maturity
ОглавлениеFirst, take a few moments to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and offer a prayer asking God to direct your heart and mind in this process.
Now, in each of the following areas, take some time to reflect and journal about times and ways in which you have been immature, as defined above, throughout your addictive process. Be as thorough and honest with yourself as possible. When and how have you shown
•spiritual immaturity
•relational immaturity
•moral immaturity
•sexual immaturity
•vocational/work immaturity
•behavioral immaturity
•emotional immaturity
•cognitive immaturity (that is, how have you distorted the truth?)
Now, develop a similar list in your journal of what maturity will look like for you as you continue to grow in each of the areas listed above.
Review the bulleted list provided and
1.Put a star by any category that is already present or growing in your life of recovery.
2.Put two stars by a few items (two to four) that seem most important to you in this moment in becoming more mature in your walk with Christ and your recovery.
To finish this activity, review what you've written in your journal. This is, in part, a map of where you have been, where you currently are, and where you intend to go with God's help.
Finally, look at the items on the list with one and two stars. Pray about the changes that already are present and growing in your life and for those parts of your life that remain incomplete, asking God to guide your steps in a way that will help you become more complete and more mature.
