Authenticating the Dana 427 Camaro

Оглавление

Dana cars are difficult to authenticate because most of the Camaro owners did not have the foresight to understand the importance of paperwork retention. The dealership paperwork was discarded when Paul dissolved the dealership. How many Camaros were converted in total is unknown. It is also unknown how many cars were created according to the Dana package prior to and after the April 1967 Car Life publication test.

Both Dana and Nickey definitely beat heavyweight Yenko Chevrolet to the punch when it came to churning out 427 Camaros. Of course, once Don Yenko got into Camaro 427 conversion, he eclipsed everyone else in sheer volume and visibility of his supercars by developing a dealer network to sell his creations all over the United States.

The Dana Camaro was a complete dealer supercar package. Aside from ready-to-go Dana 427 Camaros, customers could bring in their car to have a Hurst shifter installed or an engine swap. These were not being sold as complete Dana supercar packages.
