Elder Flowers.
Latin—Flores Sambuci; French—Sureau; German—Hollunderblüthen.
ОглавлениеThis bush, Sambucus niger, which grows wild in Europe, bears umbellar flowers which are officinal, but contain besides a pleasant odor which can be extracted from them. The odor of the flowers deteriorates on drying, hence in perfumery only the fresh flowers should be used. The American elder (Sambucus canadensis) could easily be used in place of it.
