While camping, there’s nothing worse than realizing you forgot something important at home, and it’s not always easy to run out to a nearby store to pick up what you need. To avoid

Personal/shelter basics

First aid kit (suggestions below for a basic kit)

Personal medications

Bandages

Ibuprofen

Burn gel

Anti-itch cream

Ointment

Baby powder

Clothing (go for clothes you can layer; i.e. wool socks, moisture-wicking clothing, etc.)

Boots or trail shoes

Camp footwear (i.e. sandals)

Rain gear

Laundry bag

Towels

Travel-size soap/shampoo

Hygiene basics (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, etc.)

Sunglasses

Sunblock/hat

Toilet paper (enclosed in a plastic zip-lock baggie)

Bug repellant

Notebook and pen/pencil

Books

Tent (with footprint and rainfly)

Sleeping bags, pillows, air mattress (and repair kit), blankets, etc.

Games (cards, board games, etc.)

Water bottles/jugs (one per person) this problem, make a list of everything you need to pack. Below are some of the more essential items. Photocopy this page before a trip and add to it as needed.
